Equity and justice in the way discipline is administered for rural, socio-economically disadvantaged, black, brown, Children with Disabilities, and English language learners
2. Anti-Bullying Wake County Public School System (WCPSS)
A mandated bullying data collection process
A bullying policy with strong accountability measures is to be added to the WCPSS’s equity policy.
3. Pre-K Suspension
Increased funding for childcare centers to increase pay rates for teachers and staff, training in Trauma Informed Care for staff, and hire mental health staff to help with students who are dealing with issues of trauma and develop behavior plans with effective strategies that address the behavior for staff and home use
4. Leandro vs. North Carolina
For 27 years North Carolina Legislators have blatantly violated the state constitutional rights of its most vulnerable children by denying them access to full funding of the Leandro vs. North Carolina court mandate. Mary Magdalene Ministries works to educate and mobilize communities of color to act to obtain full funding for the Leandro Plan.
